Defcon Bike Ride v2 Info for July 26th, 2012
A few things for Thursday:
1.) Below is a link… it’s basically a survey on where you are sleeping Wednesday night. We are trying to figure out how many people need rides from where. (Rio, Ceasers, etc). @myrcurial is going to meet us at the Rio at 5:30, but may be able to pick up people somewhere else or make two trips. If there is a group of 4 that could split a cab — then that’d be cool too… any ways — here’s the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dERvNVdWM1NsaWljbHVnWTd5TjVjckE6MQ#gid=0
2.) Defcon Tickets — There was talk about Defcon tickets — we are not planning on collecting money and grabbing badges for people. If you are totally hard up and don’t know anyone and really want to catch a 10 am talk, reply to this email and I’ll connect you with someone that I trust to get you a badge. Other than that — please find a friend on Wednesday night to get you a badge or hit up the line after the ride. I talked to the guy that run’s reg, and supposedly it should go much faster this year.
3) The Ride — The current plan is to go out to redrock and if people want to a vertical loop once there. There are more details on the site from last years identical ride. Some details:
- You can bring your own pedals and they’ll throw them on.
- You will get one water bottle, a 2nd one is $2.
- The ride is 1-2% uphill the whole way out. If you get too tired or anything you can just turn around and cruise back.
- McGhies will have staff there when we return so we don’t have to wait around.
- We are cycling in the desert. Just saying. Drink plenty of water the night before and morning of. You won’t realize you are sweating liquid out.
- If you know anyone with a car that is willing to be a 2nd follow car, please let me know
- There are no jerseys — it just wasn’t in the cards this year.
- If you ordered a tshirt please bring $20 and i’ll hand them out after the ride.
- You should probably have a bike reservation by now if you aren’t bringing your own bike.
Last minute updates will be on Twitter @cycle_override.
