MapMyRide Tour de France update: We are in 9th place!
Hey everyone — Check this out:
We are in 9th place — mostly thanks to Wayne J., Owen J. and George B. But alot of people have 3,4,5, and 6 points contributing to our team total of 112 points. We’d be many more places down if it wasn’t for all you who are submitting and getting a few points here or there over time.
Since the TdF is off today — you can submit today or tmrw (or both) for Tuesdays ride, and the system will pick the best ride.
Hey, I’ll be at the ride in Vegas. I did a 106 mile ride this weekend, so I added that and joined your team. Not sure how the points work or if that will help anything. I’ll add any other rides I do.
awesome man! Keep up the riding! š It’s scored kinda like the Tour — but not totally — the website has some details but I haven’t been able to figure everything out — I just know we’re doing decent!
Distance and km/h seem to be the big winners, regardless of stage type.
Having said that, I hope my shifter comes in this week. Those first six stages (I missed the starting two) and 377 km were pretty slow on my single speed. :/
Ride on, gang! Top five or bust.
My data for the 9th stage did not post correctly. I was only given credit for 4 miles instead of the 25 I did. I’ve posted a question to the support people on how to get this fixed.
It also looks like if you upload on 7/11, you won’t be able to upload on 7/12. Kind of a bummer since I uploaded my 20 miles today but was planning on doing 25+ tomorrow.
I have had multiple submissions in a day, when the app improperly paused and chopped my ride in half. It takes the best virtual time of the multiple submissions and uses that. So, in theory, you should be able to submit times on the rest day and the next race day, but the contest will only use the best one. I had a ride in yesterday, and the contest homepage says I still have time to submit one today.
The app’s been a little flaky for me, but mostly works. I mostly screwed myself by not completing individual registration until after I had completed 4 stages–the virtual time applied to the team, but I didn’t earn any individual points.
Garmin 500s aren’t very expensive, ya know. Maybe it’s time for you guys to upgrade, eh?
I put in 29 miles today with a crosswind the whole time. And then this afternoon I got pretty sick. I think my body is telling me that crosswinds are bad š Not sure if I’ll be in the saddle tomorrow the way I’m feeling but I should be good for thursday.
Oh, and to explain my terrible virtual time a bit… (b/c I feel like I should say something about a 19h time) Brandon and I rode 15 miles _in the sand_ for this stage and averaged 13mph. I know there’s no way for MMR to know the surface conditions, but the extra effort due to the sand should count for something š Seriously, beach riding is shockingly tiring.
I think that it take the top 3 rides for a score per stage for each team…that being said (and if I’m correct) the way for us as a team to move up is if every one can do at least one big ride. a fast 75 miles or slow 100 plus might put you in the top twenty five for a stage and that would, hopfuly give the team extra points. So, I killed myself today and did a big ride..damn I’m wiped out..and we will see tomorrow if it was worth it. So if I’m right…don’t kill yourself on daily 25 or 30 mile rides…ride what makes you feel energized, save up and after a few days or a week the go for a big one. good luck everyone…have fun..and be safe.
